Nigerians in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) under the auspices of the Nigerian-Canadian Association (NCA) kept with tradition on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Fame Furlane Banquet Hall, 7065 Islington Ave in Woodbridge, Ontario when they celebrated enmasse the 49th independence anniversary of Nigeria. The festivities which were graced by about three hundred Nigerians, members of the provincial and federal parliaments and of the diplomatic Corp of Grenada, Jamaica and South Africa served a dual purpose - as a vivid reminder of the checkered history of this ‘giant of Africa’ and the promise of a better tomorrow.
